PTA Night at the Rockets
Saturday, November 3rd, is PTA Night at the Rockets. Tickets that regularly sell for $30.00 will be $20.00 and the Kashmere PTSA will receive $5.00 for each ticket we sell. You can order your tickets by calling Brian Hopkins at 713-758-7455 or emailing him at brianh@rocketball.com. Please email shebasolom1986@yahoo.com with the number of tickets you ordered so that we will know how much we will have raised. All funds raised will go towards placing a concrete mascot in front of the school. If 900 people who love Kashmere can get 5 people to go to that game with them, we will raise the $4500.00 we need for the mascot.

Kashmere PTSA Needs You!
The Kashmere PTSA is in the midst of its membership drive. September has been proclaimed as PTA Membership Month by Governor Rick Perry. Our goal is to have 200 members by October 10, 2007. Please help us with our goal. Everyone is eligible to join. The dues are $10.00 a year for adults and $5.00 a year for students. Ask your church members and family members to join. There is greater strength in greater numbers. Kashmere needs you on its way back to an exemplary rating.
Kashmere Averts Catastrophy
The Kashmere Ram school community averted a catastrophy when the District administration was contemplating sending the students from Key Middle School to Kashmere High School. There were safety issues and academic issues which caused that action to be unadviseable. The collaborative work of this PTSA with our school community identified to Dr. Saavedra the unintended consequences of mixing those two student bodies. Kashmere is on its way to an exemplary rating and the community will not allow distractions and situations to arise that are not in the best interest of Kashmere's student body and the community. Dr. Saavedra decided to send the Key students to Lamar Fleming MS.
The Great Debate
The Houston Council of PTAs sponsored a gubertorial debate at Kashmere High School on October 22, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The Kashmere High School PTSA was happy to serve as host. The debate ran on the Municipal Channel several times. The debate was an activity related to the advocacy component of the PTA's mission.
Home Sweet Home
The PTSA Room is located in T2 behind the JROTC temporary complex. Come by and see our "home away from home". We want to thank Dr. Parker for providing the PTSA space on campus to work. There are 2 desks with chairs for the PTSA a computer, bookshelf, file cabinets, and conference tables. We will be utilizing the room more when the additional lighting has been installed outside of the building. We hope to get a telephone so that we can assist our parents, alumni, and community stakeholders in their effort to support Kashmere students.

KASHMERE LIBRARY NEW IMPROVEMENTS
It was at Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee's Town Hall meeting held in the library March 2005 that the community expressed it's outrage at the deplorable condition of the library and the other school facilities. The Kashmere community, PTSA and Alumni Association have kept this and other issues alive, and because of our efforts, we have a well equiped facility. I hope you will come and see the vast improvements to the library for yourself.
SPARK PARK APPROVALWe have been approved for a Spark Park for the 2006-2007 school year. We will be celebrating Kashmere's 50th year and we hope to have the new facilities completed by Homecoming 2007. It will take everyone in the community including the churches, businesses, and community organizations to meet this goal. I am asking for your continued help. We want to beautify the front of the school with plantings along with a sprinkler system; sculptures and various art forms; provide bleachers and lights for the practice field; and place a greenhouse complete with irrigation system on campus to support plantings and provide an outside learning laboratory for students taking life skills and science courses. LIFE SKILLS CLASSROOM BECOMES A REALITY The new Life Skills laboratory has been completed and a open house was held in April 2007. The PTSA was able to solicit a donation of the bedroom furniture from Star Furniture. The laboratory is just beautiful consisting of a livingroom, dining area, kitchette, bedroom computer/ study area and a den. We hope you will come and see it the next time you are on campus. The laboratory is located in one of the classrooms that opens into the cafeteria.
COME AND SEE HOW OUR GARDEN GROWS

THe Outdoor Classroom consists of 14 raised beds, a greenhouse, a bench and a flower box located on the northwestern part of the campus.
